What is TENS?

T.E.N.S stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.

A TENS machine passes electrical signals across the skin to stimulate your nerves and relieve pain. The messages block the pain signals by stimulating the nerves near your spinal cord, and 'scrambling' the pain messages from the uterus and cervix to the brain, which reduces the pain. TENS also causes the release of your body's natural pain reliever - endorphins.

When should I hire the TENS machine?

How do I hire a TENS machine at Mint?

1. Contact us directly to reserve the machine for your labour (phone or email)
2. Watch the video's below
3. Collect your machine and have a practice on your arm, or lower back prior to labour
4. Return the machine and instructions at the end of your hire period (but not the electrodes - they are yours to keep!).
