Can I still claim private health for a Telehealth consult?

Absolutely! Ever since the pandemic, when the Australian Government endorsed TeleHealth for many medical professionals, Private Health Fund rebates became available for Telehealth. Please check with your health fund for your specific level of cover. Most funds are providing rebates for those with Physiotherapy cover. The codes are T811 and T812 for Telehealth. After the appointment, we'll send an invoice, and as soon as you've made payment you'll be able to claim directly with your private health company, all from the comfort of home (or hotel.. Or work.. wherever you are!).

Is Telehealth as good as in-person consults?

For assessments, the physio can ask you to do all the same assessments we would in clinic, and even guide you to palpate the specific areas. Research shows that diagnosis made via Telehealth are accurate! 

What else can we actually achieve online?

• assessment to determine diagnosis
• assessment to determine clinical need for imaging referral
• functional assessment for return to work / sport
• rehab exercisee prescription and progression

In fact, the only part we cannot do, is manual therapy treatment! Often we can teach you other ways to help manage pain and get you moving better, just like we would in clinic.

Get set-up for your appointment:

• Set up a space where we can see you. We recommend about 2 square meters. Can you lay down and be seen? Can you sit / stand in front of the camera? Ideally use a device you don't need to hold eg a laptop or Tablet / phone propped up. You can use headphones whilst we're initially chatting if you like, but this isn't necessary.

• At your first appointment, please login 10 mins prior to your start time. You can login following the link in the email we sent you. 

• Now you're in our virtual 'waiting room' - your Physio will come and get you!
